Kenny and Melissa Oliver, of Rosston, Arkansas, are regular diamond diggers at Crater of Diamonds State Park. Like a lot of regular diggers, the couple has a passionate interest in hunting for diamonds and have spent many long hours of hard work searching for the elusive stones.

Their work has not been in vain, and on March 20, 2011, during the “Super Moon” event, their dedication paid off big time when they found their 51st diamond at the park. It was a beautiful 2.44ct silver white diamond they appropriately named ‘Silver Moon’.

Silver Moon

Going through Underwood’s Fine Jewelers, in Fayetteville, the Olivers sent the Silver Moon off to Lazare Kaplan International, Inc., based in New York City to have it cut. Once cut, it was then sent to Gemological Institute of America (GIA), in Carlsbad, Calif., for diamond grading.

After the Silver Moon diamond was graded at GIA, it was returned to Underwood’s for appraisal. Finally, after several months of waiting, Kenny and Melissa drove to Underwood’s to recover their newly cut, graded and appraised diamond.

Cut into a pear shape and graded at VVS2, color F, the Silver Moon is a beautiful stone weighing 1.06ct. It is one of the finest cut diamonds to come from Crater of Diamonds State Park in its history.

The couple are avid arrowhead hunters who have amassed a collection of over 2,000 arrowheads, and their passion for treasure is what led them to Crater of Diamonds State Park two years ago. They have found 89 diamonds to date, the Silver Moon being their biggest and best find so far.

A Diamond Digger is selling some of his diamond finds on ebay and this lot is a good deal as the price is less than $4.00 a point. Locally(Murfreesboro, AR), prices for diamonds found at the Crater are in the range of $4.00 to $10.00 or more per point, depending on the size and quality. At less than $4.00 a point, these diamonds make great Crater of Diamonds State Park specimens if the reserve price and the starting bid price are the same $450.00.

Large Diamond found at Crater of Diamonds State Park

David Anderson, from Kent City, MI today found a wonderful white diamond weighing 3.90-carats(tentative) at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. David has dug for diamonds at the Crater for several years now, and has found over 150 diamonds. Today’s find makes his sixth diamond find over a carat and his biggest yet. David found his diamond in material(dirt, mud & rocks) that he had dug from the east drain area of the diamond search field.
